"Child of Mine" is a diptych based on the Hostile Terrain 94 exhibit started by anthropologist Jason De León. It tells the story of a young child making the trip to cross to the US-MX border with just a backpack to carry essentials, a journey that is never the first option but always the last in hopes to find a better and safer future. Ultimately their story ends in the desert, buried by a stranger making the same trip and memorialized with anything and everything found near them - including the child’s own clothes.
