First Solo Mural
March-July 2024
This mural is about mental health. I doubted myself as the right choice for this as I’ve never talked about my own journey with mental health and especially because of the fear of having to talk about it. I grew up hearing “if you pray hard enough it’ll go away”, “it’s just in your head” and “anxiety and depression aren’t real illnesses”. I quickly realized (thankfully I’m stronger than my ill thoughts now) that because of this experience I could do it justice.
I leave you with a small personal description of the mural.
“I believe there are two interpretations to it.
The first is representing the silhouette hands as depression. Leaving them as black silhouettes depicts how isolating it can be as depression can manipulate you let go of the people who love you the most and how easily you can get tangled up in the dark the thoughts that come with it. To me, anxiety is shown through the vibrant colors of the mountains that simulate that butterfly feeling in your body that comes with anxiety.
The second is how the silhouette hands are reaching out to get help. The mountains show how colorful and light the world can feel after you do.”

Mentoring Students
July-Sept 2024
This mural is was a collaboration with a group of local S.A.F.E. (Student Advocating For Equity) students. I was lucky enough to be a mentor for this project and teach these 4 students how to take their idea from a sketch right into a mural that highlights diversity and inclusion.
I met with them in late May with their sketch design and eventually continued to meet before the school year ended. These students and our lead teacher, Jenny Davis, were gracious enough to give up a few days of their summer break to be able to present this mural in time for the beginning of the new year.
The borders of the mural are titles that had been previously made by S.A.F.E. students from 2020-2021.

Community Mural
July 6th 2024
This mural is one that the City of Corvallis creates yearly. I was referred to participate in this mural by Jerry Bryan and in 98°F weather, the community worked all day to finish this mural. Not only did I get to help in prepping and priming the design, but was in charge of painting and designing the geckos alongside Bryan.
This mural is located at Garfield Elementary School, Corvallis, OR.
Elementary School Mural
June 2023
Finding out that Garfield Elementary School was preparing for a mural, I knew I wanted to get involved in some way especially after previously participating in my very first a few months before. As someone who previously attended and briefly worked at Garfield, this felt like a full-circle moment. I got to work with the school's art teacher, Jerry Bryan, who taught me all sorts of tips and tricks and gave me incredible advice that I carried with me into my very first solo mural a year later.

Modeling for/Working on a Mural
February 2023
This mural was created by Anne Magratten (faculty at LBCC) and their painting class in 2023. I had the chance to not only model for this mural but to participate for a session. It my very first time participating in working on a mural and found that I loved the process of it.
